OQ100LAEKEN event callsign 1st contact with Congo in 1913
On october 8th 1913 the first radio contact is established between Belgium and the belgian colony of Congo. The station in Laeken (near Brussels, Belgium) was a continuous spark transmitter. The station in Boma (Belgian Congo) was distant of 6300 km, a DX-record at that time. The station OQ100LAEKEN has been set up on october 8th to commemorate the 100th birthday of this contact.
