The HARAOA Group sta pianificando una grande DXpedition a Lord Howe Island dal 23 luglio al 2 agosto 2011.
Il team di VK9HR sarà  sull' Isola per circa 10 giorni e saranno attivi simultaneamente su tutte le bande per dare a tutti l'opportunità  di contattare Lord Howe Island (OC-004).
Il team sarà  conposto da acluni degli operatori che hanno partecipato alla VI2BI DXpedition ( OC-212 ) del Febbraio 2010 ed alla VK9NI DXpedition ( OC-005 ) del luglio 2009.
Il Team leader di VK9HR è Tommy Horozakis VK2IR, il co-leader John Chalkiarakis VK3YP.

UPDATE: We are still looking for three more operators to join the international team for the July 24 – August 2nd DX ‘Pedition to Lord Howe Island. Please visit our website, sign the guest book and see all the info about the DX’Pedition.

We will have some of the latest gear with Kenwood USA and HRO helping with 3 x TS-590S. We’ll have SPE amps and antennas from 160-6mtrs with so much more and two different locations on the island. The cost is amazing at $1950AUD for the return airfares, taxes, 10 nights on the island and all the equipment there and ready.

The dates for the VK9HR activation have been revised to July 24th – August 2nd, 2011. This will allow the team to participate in the RSGB IOTA 2011 contest.

The VK9HR team will be on the Island for approx 10 days, and will be operating on multiple bands simultaneously to give everyone the chance to contact Lord Howe Island ( OC-004 & VKFF-295 ).

The team will consist of some of the operators which took part in the VI2BI DXpedition ( OC-212 ) back in February 2010 and the VK9NI DXpedition ( OC-005 ) in July 2009.

The VK9HR DXpedition team leader is Tommy Horozakis VK2IR and co-leader John Chalkiarakis VK3YP.

UPDATE: We are 2 weeks away and all equipment is on its way to the island via sea and also via our charter plane who will fly all electronics to the Island. The international team started arriving in Sydney today and we expect the whole team to be together by mid next week for a big dinner before we leave for the Island on the 23rd July.

We will have pictures and video going up onto the website while we are on the island as well as updates to our logs. We have Pilots in EU, NA & VK so please email vk9hr@vk9hr.com or check the website for all information.

UPDATE

All the Equipment has been shipped to Lord Howe Island. All the international team of operators has arrived in Australia. The DX team will fly out of Sydney on Saturday morning, July 23rd 2011.

UPDATE from John VK3YP, VK9HR Co Leader:

We have all the antennas up from 160M to 6M and have six stations running. The propagation has not been the best on 10M but we had an opening on 12M. We had a massive opening on the 26th of July on 17M for most of the day and worked over 700 contacts on SSB with huge 59+ signals. We are using a 2 element moxon on 17M.

UPDATE from John VK3YP — VK9HR Team is now QRT!

A great effort by the VK9HR team allowing everyone to make contact on all bands and modes from Lord Howe Island OC-004. VK9HR set the standard for DXpeditions with logs being uploaded to the online website log and LOTW every day.

The focus on 160M was a huge success for VH9HR with the team working many EU, JA and NA on 160M greyline using a 160M Inverted L near the water and a directional beverage antenna system.

We are now working on producing a VK9HR eight (8) sided full colour QSL card with many photos and statistics.
