6O3A Dxpedition to Somaliland CANCELLED

The Intrepid-DX Group is pleased to announce our next DXpedition, as 6O3A from Hargeisa , Somaliland (Somalia) to take place from November 6th-14th, 2012. The Intrepid-DX Group is the same group which brought you the recent ET3AA , ST0R and YI9PSE DXpeditions.

Our primary objective is to activate Somaliland with a goal of providing as many DXers as possible a “new one” with this rare DXCC entity and, as a secondary objective, to give as many band-slots as possible. We will focus on North America, KH6, ZL/VK during those periods when propagation is possible to those areas.

The team consists of twelve operators including: Co-Leader Paul Ewing-N6PSE , Co-Leader David Collingham K3LP , Dave Flack AH6HY , Jun Tanaka JH4RHF , Dmitri Zhikharev RA9USU , Darko Rusman E70A , Krassy Petkov K1LZ , Hrane Milosevic YT1AD , Bill Beyer N2WB , John Miller K6MM , Al Hernandez K3VN and Bob Grimmick N6OX.

Our QSL Manager is Joe-W3HNK . We will have OQRS, we will accept direct and bureau QSL cards. We plan to upload our logs to Club Log on a daily basis.

Some weeks ago, the Intrepid-DX Group announced our plans for a large, multi-national DXpedition to Hargeysa, Somaliland scheduled for November, 2012. It is our intent to serve the areas not previously well served by the two previous DXpeditions to Somalia.

Yesterday, the Italian DX group, led by I2YSB announced their imminent plans to activate Somalia under the guise of a “Humanitarian DXpedition”

We believe that merely posing for a photo with an ambulance donated by a major corporation does not rise to the level of a humanitarian mission.

We ask the DX community to not condone, nor support this kind of activity. The Italian DX group has not consulted with us, nor apparently considered our previous announcement.

We believe that it is inappropriate for them to place their DXpedition to this entity ahead of our previously announced plans.

Due to the recent activation of Somalia by the 6O0CW group, the Intrepid-DX Group has decided to cancel our previously announced plans to conduct a Dxpedition in November, 2012 as 6O3A. We feel that the need for 6O contacts has been sufficiently diminished to make it worth-while to continue with our plans.

In the coming days, we will refund 100% of all donations made to us. We hope to make other rare activations for 2013.

Our friend, Darko Rusman, E70A continues to hold the 6O3A license and will be active from time to time from Somaliland.
