Bass Point is located on the Lizard approximatley 1k east of the Lizard lighthouse nr Helston Cornwall.The call is activated once a year to celebrate the birthday of Gugliemo Marconi.This event is known as International Marconi Day and was the joint idea of Monty G4ZKH and Norman G4USB .The event is organised by the Cornish Radio Amateur Club who produce a very nice award certificate. The Bass Point operation is organised and operated by Richard G3MRT , Geoff G0FHT , Keith M0RSJ and Monty G4ZKH co-founder of IMD.
The photograph is looking towards the Lizard lighthouse with the Marconi huts in the foreground.The 20m station used the homebrew delta loop and the mast supported the 40m co-phased sloper.
The site is owned by the National Trust with one of the huts used as a holiday let and the other houses the GB2LD station and the Lizard wireless museum cared for by David Barlow.
