UPDATE: Eric JW2US informs DX World.net of the following:
A few QSL cards received in last mail delivery to Bear Island. I will respond to all when back home in Norway, first half of December.
Erik JW2US is now active from Bear island arctic station EU-027 and will be staying there until November 2012.
The island is situated between the Norwegian mainland and Spitsbergen and is the southernmost part of Svalbard’s archipelago. Bjørnøya is an important place for scientific research, especially that of seabirds and environmental contaminants/ecotoxicology. Weather observations have been carried out from the Meteorological Institute’s weather station since 1932.
Today it is run by a crew of nine people, which is changed twice a year.
