UPDATE - The Ría Deseado Radio Club informs that due to weather predictions, the Dxpedition under the distinctive call LT0X has been postponed one week. The team will now be on air from Friday, November 9th to Sunday, November 11th 2012.

Ruben LU3XEM, Luis LU3XEI, Edgar LU5VAT and Carlos LU7DSY plan on activating Penguin Island (SA-087) between November 2-4, 2012. [earlier info ]

This particular island was on air for the first time 12 years ago – with no activity since.

The team will use the special callsign LT0X and expect to be active on 80, 40, 20, 15, 12 and 10 meters, possibly 6 meters in SSB, CW and PSK31.

The intent is to have three stations active simultaneously.

They will have 3 generator sets and the camp is near to the sea – about 150 meters from the lighthouse.

Penguin Island location is 47 ° 55 ‘ S and 65 º 43 W and its dimensions are 1200 meters in a north-south and 1050 meters in east-west direction.
