Info released from the 4M5DX Group informs an upcoming DXpedition to Aves Island (YW0A) is being planned for sometime between November 1, 2013 to February 28, 2014.

UPDATE - Today the team officially have the callsign YW0A approved by CONATEL.

FLASH NEWS As of today, the YV Army/Navy gave approval for Aves Island activity and a schedule will be announced soon.

NEWS UPDATE Team YW0A-4M5DX have completed all formalities with the corresponding governmental institutions (i.e. CONATEL, MINAMB, ARBV), and are now waiting on the Venezuelan Navy to set the dates for the visit (and activation) of Aves Island.

NEWS UPDATE – DATE CHANGE YW0A will now take place during 10 days in April. Yesterday, the team had a meeting with Navy authorities and they informed that during February and March the Naval Base on the island will be upgraded and serviced (generators and water pumps). Therefore, Naval authorities will, next week, provide a final schedule.

UPDATE – Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday saw the YW0A team working hard packing equipment and making various last minute tests before all gear is transported to the sailing port of La Guaria. It is hoped, finally, this week the team will have their schedule, determined by their return date issued by the Venezuelan Navy. (The team’s issuing updates via twitter.)
