France and Germany are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Élysée Treaty. This treaty, signed on January 22nd, 1963, by Général de Gaulle and Bundeskanzler Adenauer sealed an exceptional partnership between France and Germany—two countries who had fought each other bitterly in the course of history.
