Inviato: 28 marzo 2014, 20:31
Welcome to GB0DZG a special event call from Dudley & district ARS. we will be active from Dudley castle & zooilogical gardens from the 30th of may till the 1st of june.as part of Zoo's on the air week. Constructed between 1935 and 1937, the animal enclosures and visitor buildings at Dudley Zoo, in the West Midlands, occupy a curious place within the history of British modernism. As part suprematist folly, part animal habitat, particular attention has been given to these structures because of their place within the wider work of architect Berthold Lubetkin and his practice Tecton Described as ‘at once a scientific centre’ and ‘an ultra-modern town plan in miniature’ Dudley Zoo opened on the 5 May 1937 with great success. Welcoming over 50,000 visitors on the first day alone, this new attraction initiated an encounter between contemporary building design and a new audience of the wider general public.
