GB8MC 800th anniversary of the granting of Magna Carta
GB8MC is to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the granting of Magna Carta (Great Charter) on15 June 1215. It was on this date that The King of England (King John) and rebel barons finally agreed its contents and so it was sealed and issued at Runnymede on this date. There had been much discussion prior to it being issued and afterwards. GB8MC will be active from 01 until 28 June 2015 inclusive with main day of operation being Monday 15 June 2015. Magna Carta was the basis of English Law with much of its content being used in the writing of US Constitution. Further interesting information is available on the internet but I would suggest this web site is of interest. I must add that I have no connection with it. [url]http://magnacarta800th.com/[ GB8MC will be operated by M0OIC from his home location. GB8MC operation will be on bands 80 to 10m plus/url] 6m, 4m and 2m subject to conditions with modes of operation being: Phone, CW, RTTY, PSK31/63/125 plus JT65/JT9 where possible. Maximum power out will be 100 watts for phone, CW and RTTY. Digital modes, depending on mode, between 10 and 30 watts. For RSARS members, this callsign does have an affiliated number which will be given when worked. It is hoped that GB8MC will be available on all SSB, RTTY, CW and PSK nets. This will exclude Tuesday afternoon nets as M0OIC will be running that net using his own call. This QRZ.COM page is a work in progress but will be 100% completed by 30th May 2015. LOTW is prefered and logs will be updated at the end of each day.
