GB75MQ is a special event station that will be running from on board the paddle steamer Medway Queen for two weeks starting on May 19th 2015. This is a joint effort by members of the BRATS ( Bredhurst Receiving and Transmitting Society ) and Hilderstone Radio Club. The event commemorates the 75th anniversary of operation dynamo - the evacuation of allied troops from the beaches at Dunkirk. The Medway Queen was called 'The heroine of Dunkirk'. She made 7 crossings, more than any other civilian ship and rescued over 3000 soldiers from the beaches. She is currently in the process of being rebuilt. Her hull has been re plated and she will be towed from her mooring at Gillingham to Ramsgate Harbour for the celebrations but will be unable to make the journey to Dunkirk with all the other Dunkirk little ships.
