The website for the N5J DXpedition to Jarvis Island is now up and running on https://jarvisisland2024.com/. The callsign is authorized for use from 5 to 20 August. The Special Use Permit issued by the US Fish and Wildlife Service allows four operators on the boat (AA7JV,
N1DG, HA7RY and KN4EEI) to set up six RIB stations on land for operations on 160-6 metres CW, SSB and FT8; in addition, 25 remote operators will be running CW and FT8 via satellite Internet.
The Northern California DX Foundation has granted USD 75,000 to fund the DXpedition: "The group is being monitored by US Fish and Wildlife", they say. "If this trip is successful, other F&W destinations could be permitted.
Some of these are in the top 20 Most Wanted. Most of the cost is fuel for the boat and the costs associated with F&W. Our mission statement is to provide funding to rare entity DXpeditions and to advance the technology of DXing. Jarvis is a perfect example to meet these requirements. NCDXF hopes
our grant will springboard other donations".

"It is 84 days to our departure for Jarvis Island from American Samoa", AA7JV posted to the DXpedition's website on 7 April. "We are busy building and testing equipment. In addition to the RIBs, a lot of our gear is built by us, specifically designed for remote operation where reliability is key.
We have finalized the station configuration. We will have six stations on the island. Four of the stations are set up to be remotely operated and two will be locally operated, although we do have the flexibility to operate any station locally (from the boat) or remotely via Starlink and the Internet".

The Dateline DX Association has announced that "due to the increasing interest in our DXpedition to this rare DXCC Entity, we are adding another local operator to our team". Plans are to have six RIB stations on the island. Four stations are set up to be remotely operated, while two stations will be operated locally (from the boat) by AA7JV, N1DG, HA7RY, KN4EEI and the newly added team member Adrian, KO8SCA.
