Planning continues to go well for the DXpedition to St. Paul Island (NA-094), which is scheduled for 26 August-5 September.
The team (K4ZLE, K9CT, K9NW, N2IEN, N2TU, W0GJ, W0PR, W4DKS, WA4DAN and WW2DX) will be active on 160-6 metres, including satellite and EME. The main island is off-limits, and all operations will be from the smaller Northeast Island. As there are no dock or landing area for a boat, the team plans to employ two helicopters, one to be deployed before the DXpedition to transport the heavier items to the island. The St. Paul Island Team welcomes Scott (NE9U, who replaces K4ZLE) and Adrian (KO8SCA) as an additional member. CY9C will be QRV from 26 August to 5 September.
The airlift of "infrastructure gear over to the Northeast Island of St. Paul will take place on 24 August. Six airlifts are currently planned and they will be taking the tents, tables, chairs, generators, fuel, electrical cables, coaxial cables and all other necessary gear to build the CY9C camp.
As with most DXpeditions, weather will play a factor in the schedule. Preparations for the airlift will commence on 5 August, with the arrival of the first load of gear in Dingwall. Helicopter operations for the CY9C DXpedition (26 August-5 September) will begin at 12 UTC on 24 August: "the first flight to St Paul Island will be with several team members on board. The first priority will be sending the tents and other infrastructure gear to the island. The airlift of gear will take all day on the 24th.
Please be patient as there is a lot of work that must be completed to build the camp. There is very little soil (ground) on the Northeast Island as it is essentially a large rock. We may have to drill anchors into the rock to secure our tents and antenna masts. At this point, the weather looks favorable for the airlift of gear and team members". CY9C will run 6 stations on 160-10 metres, and one station for VHF/UHF/EME and satellite. At any given time, a minimum of 3 stations will be using the new SuperFox FT8 mode.
