The Ruhr region has made his way in the middle of Europe to become a new type of cultural capital.
The award as the cultural capital of Europe by the EU means for the region, recognizing the cultural force that shapes the transformation from industrial to new, attractive and dynamic Ruhr region.

RUHR.2010 is a cultural development project of European dimension, which is generated in the exciting and contrasting urban landscape of the Ruhr-lasting effects.
For the first time will take the Ruhr a metropolitan region with 5.3 million inhabitants, the title of European Capital of Culture.
In unprecedented ways have the 53 cities for the ambitious project together.
