Carl Smith, N4AA passed away on 20 October. He was 77 years old and had been an amateur radio operator, DXer and contester for more than sixty years. He was the Editor and Publisher of the weekly "QRZ DX" newsletter and the bimonthly "DX Magazine", and for many years compiled the annual "Most Wanted Survey" of DXCC Entities needed by DXers around the world. He also was CQ Magazine's DX columnist for 13 years, and authored the "Year in Review" for the ARRL DXCC Yearbook. In 2012 Carl was inducted into the CQ DX Hall of Fame.
