An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3 occurred in the Tonga Islands region at 10.49 UTC (11.48 p.m. local time) on 11 November.
The government of Tonga called for an immediate evacuation inland as the earthquake triggered a tsunami warning, and A35GC was off the air for a few hours. The tsunami threat has now passed, and the operators (LZ1GC and LZ1PM) are safe and sound.
