Georgij A. Chliyanc, UY5XE passed away a few days ago. Born in 1948 and licenced since 1966, in 1986 he volunteered his services as a Chernobyl liquidator. He was an active DXer and contester, and a historian who authored a large number of books and articles about amateur radio. An early supporter of the IOTA programme, he participated in many DXpeditions, notably 4K3MI (1990, EU-119), 4K4I (1991, AS-086), 4K4N (1993, AS-104) and EM5UIA (2000, EU-179, EU-180, EU-182).
