"We have now moved to the new residence and a couple of vertical dipoles were strung from a Spiderbeam pole on the upper terrace of our top floor apartment", Robert, 9N7AA (S53R) posted to his qrz.com page on 11 December. "I mostly run on 17m as other bands sound rather empty. A new antenna mast was manufactured locally and delivered today, while the Ultra Beam/WIMO 2el Yagi (40-6m) is still at the customs. If all stars align, I will be able to install it before the end of the year. 160/80 will have to wait for a while, though. I have an idea how to install quarter-wave slopers but this will need some negotiations with the neighbors, as the wires will go over two adjacent land plots. Kathmandu is veeery densely populated.
And, for those constantly asking: 60m band is not permitted in Nepal.
Equipment from my previous operation is still stuck in Kabul and we are trying hard to bring it to Kathmandu. As of very recently, single-airline commercial flights have finally resumed to Dubai, so there is a little tiny light at the end of the tunnel". Robert is back to Nepal after a short holiday home. The QRN from "the widespread use of cheap LEDs, open and messy power lines and inverters" is a huge nuisance, as "on all bands the S-meter rarely, if ever, drops
below S6-7!". For the time being, he says, "activity will only be on 40-6m, while the 80/160-meter antenna remains a project for the summer months. This will also give me some extra time to try and find a solution for the interference. For those constantly asking - 60m band is not permitted in Nepal".
