Member States of the International Telecommunication Union, the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies, have elected Doreen Bogdan-Martin as the organization's next
Secretary-General. The election took place during ITU's Plenipotentiary Conference in Bucharest, Romania, on 29 September. Ms Bogdan-Martin will assume office on 1 January 2023. She will be the first woman to lead ITU in its 157-year history, and only the third Secretary-General to hold an amateur radio license ((KD2JTX).
