The West Coast DX Bulletin is back!

The original West Coast DX Bulletin by Hugh Cassidy, WA6AUD is now available for everyone to enjoy on line. Every issue from Volume 1 number 1 up to and including the very last issue from 1979 is (or will be) available here (http://ncdxc.org/pages/wcdxb.html).
Remember, the West Coast DX Bulletin was originally mailed weekly to all subscribers before there was an Internet and before desktop publishing; back when every page was created from a typewriter.

Go back and re-read every issue. Learn about DXing during the peak and downside of solar Cycle 20 through the minimum into the upside of Cycle 21. Read about news countries that came on the air the first time, like Mellish Reef and Kingman Reef. Read about countries we now consider rare, that at one time were still active; AC3, FR/G, FB8W, FB8Z and FR/T. Read about the most wanted countries and about the DXpeditions that occurred. Read where Lloyd (W6KG) and Iris (W6QL) Colvin were operating from. Read about Gus Browning’s (W4BPD) plans and where Martti Laine, OH2BH was operating from. You can also read about the early days of the NCDXF as well as activities of the DX Advisory committee.

When Cass decided to stop publishing the bulletin, he shipped his entire collection to Paul, Dunphy VE1DX, for safe keeping. Paul honored Cass’ request and recently shipped Cass’ collection back to the west coast where the Northern California DX Club had every issue scanned to be available on the Internet. After every issue has been scanned and available on line, the collection will be moved to its permanent home in the W6CF Memorial Library at the California Historical Radio Society (http://www.californiahistoricalradio.com/) in Alameda (CA). WA6AUD’s personal, original collection of the West Coast DX Bulletin is available for everyone.

NOTE: As of June 30, 2014, issues from 1968 through 1975 are now available. The remaining issues from 1976 through the last one published in July 1979 will be available by the end of August 2014 at the same web site.
