Mt. Chamberton SOTA Expedition

IZ1GDB (Riccardo), IZ1DNQ (Fabrizio) and I I1/YY5CTN belonging to ARI (Associazione Radioamatori Italiani, Torino branch) we have been organizing this SOTA expedition for a quite long time waiting ideal weather conditions.
Recently on 29th July 2018 at 5:00 am at the foot of Mt Chamberton in France we started to climb and after 4 and half hours we finally reached the top at 3.131 m (10.272 ft) where we have enjoyed spectacular views of the valleys. At the top also a massive brick and concrete structures of from world war II where 149 mm turret guns were installed; thing not to overlooked!!.
We worked in some HF bands (20m & 40m) SSB and VHF 2m SSB with 10 element horizontal polarized directional antenna.
After many contacts, the long long descent to home. An unforgettable adventure to do again over and over.
