The South African Radio League has requested the South African Regulator, ICASA, to change the beacon frequency from 5 250 to 5 290 kHz to line it up with the same allocations in Europe and other countries. This will greatly enhance the coverage of South African beacons. ICASA has agreed to this and this week changed the licence to 5 290 kHz. The change over to the new frequency is effective 4 October 2014.
