KL7RRC St. Matthew Island NA-232 : New IOTA
Expedition is rescheduled for 2012.
KL7RRC St. Matthew Island, NA-232: New IOTA
Expedition is a GO - Yuri, N3QQ updates with the following.
We have managed to team up with Mr Mike Horn and NA-232 St. Matthew is again real in 2011. His vessel is now in Kodiak.
I changed my tickets, arriving in Dutch Harbor July 14th. If Tim NL8F has time, he might join and we will activate NA-232.
Estimated dates July 19-22, but this is a wild guess, depends on Mike’s schedule and weather. He knows we need around 3 days and propa can be bad, goal is 3000 Q’s.
Please note: NA-070 plans are off.

Operators of KL7RRC 2011 Alaska trip have arrived now to Unalaska, Dutch Harbor with goal of activating NA-232, St. Matthew Island. Members are Tim Tilleman NL8F, Yuri Zaruba UA9OBA and Yuri Sushkin N3QQ
We hit a roadblock with Mike Horn. His schedule changed and he will attempt to cross False Pass to get to Nome ASAP. No time available to wait around St. Matthew or even stop in Dutch Harbor to pick us up. We may have a small chance to meet Mike in Dutch Harbor, if False Pass will not be cooperative. As Tim NL8F said “False Pass name is not given for nothing….â€
Estimated July 20th-26th operation from St.Matthew Island (NA-232) new one. QSL can be confirmed by either QSL Manager, Yuri UA9OBA or Dick, N7RO.
Equipment: 4 radios: IC-7600, IC-7000 x3.
Amplifier(s) Ameritron ALS-600S qty 2.
Generators: EU2000i.
Antennas: several full size vertical dipoles for 20/17/15m, two 1/4 wave verticals for 40m/30m.
Bands: 40-6m.
Planned modes: SSB/CW and possibly PSK31 and RTTY.
We would like to thank for a major financial support Sergey RA3NAN as well as Shu JN6RZM and his dedicated group, Lanny W5BOS, Paul W5PF, Merle K5MT, IREF and all individual donors worldwide.
No need to mail QSL for donors, contacts will be confirmed direct, no postage is necessary. All bureau cards will be confirmed via bureau.
We will keep you posted about new developments. Live tracking of our location should be available July 14th at http://www.NA-234.com

Re: KL7RRC St. Matthew Island NA-232 : New IOTA
The team who will activate NA-232 are in high spirits – vessel is solid. The Captain is also a ham, David VP8DEU, who will join the effort – perfect combination.
They expect 3.5 – 4 days at sea, starting July 18th and will be on air weather permitting from July 22-23 for around 4 days.
Callsign will be VP8DEU/mm while travelling to St. Matthew. Without Tim’s NL8F local knowledge and tremendous help this could never happen.
Ops now for NA-232 are: VP8DEU David, UA9OBA Yuri, NL8F Tim and N3QQ Yuri.
More info.
