3D2RI Rotuma

3D2RI is the callsign used by the Rotuma High School Amateur Radio Station.

Following the recent activity by the 3D2R Team, who donated the High School some radio equipment, main operator Dennis is now QRV from Rotuma on 20m SSB. Another operator, Joshia, has also been active.

QSL via Stan, KH6CG, who informs:

" Yesterday I was in QSO with V51B and we had a break in station. It was 3D2RI. It turns out this is the new callsign for the Rotuma High School. Dennis is the main operator. The guys from the 3D2R dxpedition donated equipment. Dennis is 16 years old. I put him on the cluster after we finished our QSO and he had a nice pile up on freq. It was about 0530z on 14.253 when we turned him loose on his own. He did well. "

Look for 3D2RI starting around 0400z on 15m SSB, on or near 21255 till prop fades, then they will QSY to 20M SSB on 14253 +/- QRM ’til around 0600z.

Dennis, who is 16 years old, reports that his operating group will be active on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. His operating buddy will be a YL named Maggie. I spoke with Maggie today and she is a very well spoken young lady and is anxious to learn all about Ham radio and working DX.

Joshua, who is 15 years old, will be active with his operating group on Wednesday’s and Friday’s. His operating partner will be a YL named Lesina.

The school may allow operations on the weekends as well.

Stan KH6CG informs that 3D2RI, chief operator Dennis in particular, is active most days on 14238.5 between 0400-0530z.

For March 15, Stan has arranged a sked with Dennis so that 3D2RI can work as many stations as possible during his 90 minute operating period. If you need Rotuma listen from 0400z onwards.
