PA6HEM Military Weekend Hembrug
During MWH (Military Weekend Hembrug) event the special call PA6HEM on 9th and 10th of May 2015. The "Hembrug" is a former ammunitions and wapon factory in the Citadel of Amsterdam. The factory has been in Zaandam since the late 19th century and was producing wapens and ammunition till the late 20th century for the Dutch forces and others. During the MWH event there will be a "live stream". No, not using the internet but in the conventional way, over the air. Equipped with authentic radios and transmitters which were used during the Second World War and Cold Wars. For this event call PA6HEM has been created. You can contact the PA6HEM Hembrug crew from all around the world. In the ’Cold War’ encampment there is an radio amateurstation arranged which will make use of radios of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s which were used in the Dutch army. These include among others the AN-GRC9, GRC-3030 and RT-3600. Since we want to give all amateurs the opportunity to establish a QSO with PA6HEM, we also opperate with "normal" amateur transceivers. All amateur bands from 160m to 70cm will be used where and if possible. Children who will visit the event can also experience the wonderful world of radio and get a chance to make a QSO aswell.
