Central Arizona DX Association LA7GIA 6O7O DXpeditionSomalia
The January, 2021 CADXA program was "6O7O DXpedition to Somalia" by Ken Opskar, LA7GIA. Ken was in Somalia in September 2019 for a trip planned, in part, to be a fundraiser for Sabona, a Norwegian organization that funds education and meals for children in Africa. Ken got into amateur radio during his university studies in Trondheim, Norway and was first licensed in 1992. He was active in the club station LA1K between 1991-1995 and was also QSL manager. He moved to Oslo in 1996 after completing his studies. He enjoys CW DXing, DXpeditioning, contesting and operates on all bands 160-6m, mostly on CW with some digital and, if needed, SSB to catch a new slot or mode. He is a board member of the LA DX group, the European DX Foundation (EUDXF), INDEXA member and CWOps #1888. In 2017 he received the W6OL CW award for Excellence in DXpedition CW Operations from NCDXF. He also received the Intrepid Spirit Award 2018 at the IDXC 2019 convention in Visalia.
